Visited with AgTalker Scott Nelson, also with a Twin Disc service tech in Des Moines, most likely electrical, the ground being the main suspect.
We checked the wiring harness, replaced the FEMA valve (7&8 ), the alternator (needed to be done anyway ), all the batteries (also needed to be done, 3 were bad ). Still acts up some, going to go through the wiring again with special attention to the grounds. I got the service manual from Jensales that shows the wiring schematics.

Why was it changed? Dave I hope I helped you out got questions ask away, Scott. I changed the FEMA valve before I talked to you the earlier, local tech thought it would solve the problem. Had gone through the tranny harness looking for breaks, worn spots, etc. Checked resistance on the 7 & 8 solenoid at that point, and one read quite a bit more than the other so local tech said problem solved.
I checked continuity from solenoids to the controller plug, all seemed okay. Will probably go through the grounds again before spring. Edited by DAA 3/19/2012 08:36.
