The new version received a comprehensive list of style and technical improvements which make it significantly better than its predecessor. For the starters, Honda revamped the 420 cc, liquid cooled engine which now delivers a better fuel efficiency. Like always, the single-cylinder engine is mounted longitudinally in the chassis to eliminate as many unnecessary right-angle powertrain directional changes as possible. Apart from the improved engine, Honda has also changed the entire frame and also modified the suspensions which now offer a longer wheel travel. The rider’s comfort wasn’t forgotten either, and Honda’s engineers have improved the ATV’s seat and optimized the Electric Power Steering (EPS). You also get a bigger fuel tank, a new bodywork and fresh color options.

Meet The New 2014 Ranchers. Honda’s Ranchers have long been the best-selling all-terrain vehicles in America—and they didn’t get there by standing still. Honda all-new 2014 Rancher lineup is the best example yet. Honda has make big improvements in just about every area: performance, comfort, function and style. Honda started with Honda powerful longitudinally mounted 420cc liquid-cooled engine and took it one step further by improving its fuel efficiency.
Then Honda wrapped that engine in a stronger, all-new double-cradle steel chassis. On top of that, Honda increased the suspension stroke front and rear for better ride comfort, improved handling and increased maneuverability. In addition to those great features, the all-new 2014 Ranchers feature a thicker, softer seat for increased comfort, optimized Electric Power Steering (EPS). tuning for reduced steering effort, a bigger fuel tank for those long days in the saddle and bigger front disc brakes to help slow you down. Honda wrapped all of this Honda technology in rugged new bodywork that not only looks good, but offers increased protection from the elements. They’re even available in two all-new color options: Honda exclusive Honda Phantom Camo™ and Orange, in addition to Red and Olive. Important Safety Information Recommended for riders 16 years of age and older. Honda recommends that all ATV riders take a training course and read their owner’s manual thoroughly. 2014 Honda FourTrax Rancher Key Features. Smarter Than Ever. Better Than Ever. With pages of updates, improvements and fine-tuning, 2014 Honda Rancher models offer even greater value than ever before. But the best hasn’t changed, like powerful single-cylinder engine.
It’s mounted longitudinally in the chassis to eliminate as many unnecessary right-angle powertrain directional changes as possible. The result: more power produced by the engine makes it to the ground, right where you need it most. When it comes to ATVs, that’s precisely the kind of thinking you only get with a Honda. Electric Power Steering (EPS) Honda’s Electric Power Steering (EPS) is both speed and torque sensitive. This means you get the right amount of assist when you need it most – like in rough terrain. And for 2014 Honda has make it better by fine-tuning the power assist settings even further for improved steering character as well as improving how the EPS mounts in the chassis for better overall strength and rigidity. New Digital Meter Easy to read and full of the information you want, in addition to the standard gear position indicator, speedometer, odometer, trip meter, and hour meter you now get readouts for fuel level, clock, water temperature, speed and Honda’s “maintenance minder” system to help remind you when it’s time to have your ATV serviced.
Electric Shift Program (ESP) The convenience of push-button shifting with the rugged design of a conventional ATV transmission—that’s what you get with Honda’s exclusive Electric Shift Program (ESP). Just push one button to upshift and one button to downshift.
It’s a big plus when you’re wearing heavy work boots or overshoes, or riding in mud or snow. An added benefit: you get genuine compression braking for better control when operating in steep terrain. More Powerful Headlights Increased light output (35 watts) along with a redesigned light pattern means improved visibility. Stronger Chassis An all-new frame designed by Honda engineers in Ohio uses Advanced Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) to create the best handling Rancher ever. The new chassis is 20% stiffer, which results in more precise handling while effectively transferring energy through the chassis for a smoother ride. New CV Boots Honda has applied new durable plastic CV-joint boots, both inboard and outboard, so you get significantly improved puncture and tear resistance for longer life and even more trouble-free operation, especially under harsh riding conditions. Front Sealed Bearings By using new, sealed bearings in the steering knuckles, Honda has increased durability.
This is particularly important when riding through mud, in wet weather, or operating in snow. Increased Alternator Output More powerful alternator output means your Rancher can power more accessories, like Honda Honda Genuine winch or heated grips. Depending on the specific Rancher model, output increases up to 21 percent, to a full 481 watts.
Available TraxLok Selectable 2WD/4WD This invaluable feature allows a rider to shift, via a front-panel-mounted lever, between 2WD and 4WD for maximum versatility during tough chores or on uneven terrain. (4x4 Rancher models only.) New Honda Phantom Camo A great new option, Honda exclusive Honda Phantom Camo is a treatment that helps your ATV blend in to a wide range of environments. Styling The Rancher line’s bodywork gives it a tough look. But it does more than just look good: it’s designed to last, despite the scrapes and dings of the job or the woods, and to help protect you from mud and other debris.
In-Tank Fuel Pump Honda has incorporated a new in-tank fuel pump with technology taken directly from Honda automobiles for reliable fuel delivery. Comfortable Seat A plush seat and open rider triangle (Bars/Seat/Pegs) teams up with the suspension to really treat you right. Superior ergonomics have always been a Honda priority, and the Rancher is no exception. With thicker, softer foam this year, it’s more comfortable than ever. Programmed Fuel Injection Being able to count on crisp performance and starting under any conditions is a must for anyone who depends on their ATV.
Thanks to Honda’s Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI)—featuring a 34mm throttle body, 12-hole Denso injector, and a new oxygen sensor that allows the fuel mapping to instantaneously adjust to any riding condition —the Rancher not only ensures trouble-free operation in the cold and at varying altitudes, it reduces emissions and enhances fuel economy. Semi-Dry-Sump Engine Design Honda semi-dry-sump and overhead-valve designs give you an engine that’s shorter from top to bottom. The compact engine both lowers the center of gravity and increases ground clearance. Proven Transmission Choices With the Honda Ranchers, you can choose between three different transmissions to fit your specific needs. Choose from a semi-automatic foot-shift manual transmission, Honda push-button Electric Shift Program (ESP), or a fully-automatic five-speed transmission that uses Honda exclusive Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) technology that provides all the strength of a manual transmission with all the convenience of an automatic - with no belts to slip, break or burnout. Rear Swingarm with Enclosed Axle Design The rear swingarm incorporates a new enclosed axle design for increased strength and rigidity.
Honda then took it one step further and added all new rubber bushings in the swingarm pivots for added durability. And when you need to tow a heavy load, the swingarm eliminates rear suspension squat as the load is placed on the axle itself, not on the rear shock.
